Matt Bomer Talks About His Villainous Role of Jamie Burns in the Third Season of the Critically Acclaimed Series “The Sinner”

The star of the third season of “The Sinner” and also famous for his portrayal of “Negative Man” in the HBO Max series “Doom Patrol,” has shed some light on his antagonist character of “Jamie Burns” in the third installment in the detective based series “The Sinner.”

Matt Bomer explained in his last year’s interview with Collider that he found Jamie Burns quite relatable. He further added in his last February (2020) interview with Collider that he felt that a lot of things that Burns was feeling on the show are quite prevalent, and for him especially, they were quite relatable.

The show finds Jamie Burns, capable of violence, reeling with an existential crisis, and Matt Bomer felt that he had gone through the same thing before.

Bomer expounded on the character Jamie Burns and said that for him, he was a people’s man, a gentleman who wanted to win everyone’s heart. He also had a great personal life with a wife who was expecting a child. However, even he was unaware that something was killing him inside.

In the show, it was shown that Jamie Burns shares a very deep and unnatural relationship with a college friend Nick (played by Chris Messina), who eventually returns back to his life to shed some light on his emotional bankruptcy. Nick shows to Jamie that society is not made for them and how he is an incredibly lonely person.

Matt Bomer got to the roots of the character and said in his telephonic conversation with Collider that the problem with Jamie Burns was the fact that he felt a little disconnected from everything. Bomer added that he himself had felt things like that, though not on a criminal level; however, yes, he knew what Burns used to feel.

The third season of “The Sinner” was a character study of Jamie Burns, who struggled to find a balance between his quest for happiness and his true nature. For the neighbors and his wife, he was a harmless man; however, Detective Harry Ambrose (played by Bill Pullman) soon discovers the truth about his psychology after the assumed accident and possible murder of his friend Nick. Detective Harry Ambrose soon uncovers a hidden crime committed by him and Nick and takes it upon himself to stop Jamie Burns before he hurts someone again.

Jamie Burns’ story was the third installment in the franchise, and all three installments are available for view on Netflix.

The first season introduced us to the character Detective Harry Ambrose when he investigated the murder of a man committed by a woman named Cora Tannetti (played by Jessica Biel). Biel got astonishing accolades from critics and an Emmy nomination in the best lead actress category.

Detective Ambrose is not done yet. He has to solve yet another grisly crime scene in the fourth season of the show as the franchise has been boosted by the USA Network in the month of June 2020 for another go.

The series does not have a release date, but the preceding three seasons are all available for view on Netflix. All the three seasons are not connected much, barring few details about Harry Ambrose, so you can watch any season first.

The franchise is based on a novel of the same title penned by “Petra Hammesfahr.”
